Bryan Posted June 1, 2023 Share Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) My uncle worked as a miner in Westoe colliery. His leg was crushed in an accident and he had to have the section below the knee amputated. My father was also injured in a Durham pit, although his injuries were not as serious. Deep coal mining remained hazardous right until the end.
