Mr. Ventura, you saved the day for me and all those who posted images and were waiting for me to perform. You are a prince among men!

Needless to say, choosing just 8 was hard; there were at least double that that qualified for the final group. And there were only good images and very good images. Since I picked 4 with children you might think I like kids and find them interesting. I'm guilty on both counts; they make my day.

Let the ships sail! Let the games begin! Vote away, me laddies!

There is a baseball term for most everything, but don't expect the cricket-playing British to understand them. Try to find a Yank who knows what a "goggly" is.

Today is the final day of voting in the April challenge. This month's is not a walkaway -- the race is very close. So please vote.

Try and find an English cricket fan who knows - it's spelt googly! 😀

I did try to explain the idea of Test Cricket to a young man from across the pond once.  Basically went along the lines of 2 teams of eleven, the first team is in till there all out, the second team is in till their all out, the first team comes back in again till their all out, the second team comes back in again until their all out and after five days it could end in a draw. I think he got the idea.😜😜

i must say, the intricacies of Test Crickets still elude me.  I understand 20/20.  I think i am good with Day Cricket, and as a maths major love the concept of the Duckworth/Lewis Method 🙂

Maybe one day i'll figure it out

It's a tie! Both Kristin Cato and Gvallee got 16 votes each. Now what happens? Has there been ties before?

I’m not sure if this is policy in our monthly challenge, but I want to make a comment on each of my final eight.

Porto: What caught me in this image is the combination of personal delight, function, and danger. He is too close to the edge of that staircase. I was considering Porto as a place to settle, but the city has too many staircases to climb for this old guy.

Panda: You would think this little boy might have been afraid of the enormous Panda, but he’s not.

Fire breather: This image came from behind and ended up as the winner with Kristin's Mexico City Boy. Like with most of Gen’s work, there is nothing amiss about this image -- another perfect capture from our French friend Down Under.

Witch: Without the passing woman (in a hurry but she still had to turn her head), this snap would be less worthy.

Hardcore busking: Only if you’ve known winter in Canada, would you get what a formidable person this woman is.

Dancing girl: She’s adorable, and of course she’s the star . . . but all the others contribute to the success of this image; everyone of the people in the frame is connected to what’s happening and add to the impact.

The Mexico City boy and the Music menu girl are both very special. We cry out for a lost childhood. They are on the street begging money for adults instead of at home playing with a dog.

Good work, gang. (I had 8 more that could have been winners.)

Edo

Wow, what finish and come from behind tie. Yes, we have had ties 2 or 3 times before.  What we have done is set up a runoff vote of just those two photos for two or three days.  I can set that up.  We need to have a winner so we know who will choose the next challenge topic.  Just say the word and I will get on it.  Congrats Kristin and Gen!  Both worthy winners.
