MDM
Did somebody say lakes. Here's a few from the west of Ireland... The Isle of Inishfree on Lough Gill, County Sligo, Ireland, made famous by the poem of WB Yeats. Perfect reflections in Kylemore Lough, Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland - looks peaceful but this was midge hell. Lough Inagh, Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland with deeply eroded glacial corries in the Twelve Bens (Beanna Beola in Irish) mountain range in the background. Lough Inagh, Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland Lough Corrib, Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland Lough Corrib, Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland Lough Shindilla, Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland - more midge hell. You have it correctly captioned on Alamy though.

The Maam Turks and Twelve Bens are very similar geologically - formed from Dalradian quartzite and closely related to rocks of the broadly the same age, give or take some millions of years in Donegal and Scotland.
