But I might feel better about giving a photo (rights) to someone or institution I appreciated rather than virtually gifting to some stranger who might not be to my liking. Seems pretty much unrestricted then... Given this, how come Alamy think it's OK to restrict us (in the contract) so we can't sell images that are RM on Alamy as RF elsewhere? Curiously, the same image had licensed (travel marketing package) for high-ish $$ a few days earlier. Even odder is that these are my only two sales reported so far this month. Yes, that's been happening for a long time now with large publishing media groups, Alamy offer a picture package per month of so many images for a flat fee, and regardless of how the images are used, they are all paid out at the same rate of whatever has been agreed, it's pretty standard with all stock libraries. Things had got silly, but this is just ............ $ 3.35 Unfortunately Chris this is just the state of the stock industry right now, Image rates have been driven down by large rival stock libraries for over two decades, indeed, they aggressively tried buying up smaller stock agencies in the early 2000's trying to virtually monopolise the market, either that, or they would vastly undercut general stock rates to clients hopefully squeezing out the competition, indeed, I did here from a former agency where one particular well known agency would sell images virtually at a loss to force their competition out! Also during that time, RF became more prolific as did micro stock. However, their plan hasn't fully worked and what they have done is what you are seeing today, a lot of prices have been more or less driven into the floor by their ruthless pursuit of profit and monopolising the market, and unfortunately Alamy have to respond with similar rates to compete it's as simple as that really. 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
