zxzoomy
I had a better June than usual. Images which were licensed: A collection of old, vintage black and white family photographic prints Old black and white photographs on an old 1940's handwritten letter Overhead view of roofs of houses amongst trees in North Manchester, looking towards Oldham in the distance Demonstrators carrying banners, including one that says: 'Workers of the World Unite', take part in an anti racism demonstration in Leicester, United Kingdom, in 1972. I was a student at the University of Manchester at the time. I didn't finish the degree. I became a gay activist volunteer. And many years later that became my career. I worked on LGBT issues for Manchester City Council 1989 to 2011. June 15, 2019, marks the 23rd anniversary of the IRA bomb which devastated the city centre of Manchester uk in 1996. This postbox on Corporation Street remained standing and bears a memorial plaque to mark this. The brass plaque carries the inscription: "This postbox remained standing almost undamaged on June 15, 1996 when this area was devastated by a bomb. The box was removed during the rebuilding of the city centre and was returned to its original site on November 22nd 1999". The bomb injured some 200 people. No-one has yet been charged with planting the bomb. Women march in the annual Lesbian and Gay Pride March, London, England, United Kingdom in 1984. Marches like these, which continue to take place in many countries, lobby for equal legal rights and celebrate being open about sexuality. The original must have been a real horrorshow.
