  2. Sometimes we just have to move to another section of the march as it's probably not worth a confrontation. Today I took photos of a black lives matter protest in Manchester, uk. People were really happy to hold up their placards for a photo and I thanked them all twice.

  4. Amazingly impressive. I take it polaroids are too pricey for the tourist market?

    Archive search

I just did a search for 'Manchester 50's' and 'Manchester archive' and it produced quite a lot of relevant items. When I tag archival I include something like '1974, 1970's 70's'. Hopefully contributors will at least include the decade currently. Extra ways of searching are great, if they're doable. I've been scanning loads of old negatives I took in 70's and 80's but have nearly run out of decent stuff.
  6. OP. To paraphrase another contributor, advising on the initial submission: -forget being creative; take a photo of a tin of soup or something simple that isn't moving -set the iso low, like 100, to reduce noise -put the camera (a dslr or any that meets Alamy's criteria) on something solid -if the camera gives you a choice, choose the largest image size If that doesn't work please come back and ask here in 3 weeks.

  11. Scanning takes time and can be fiddly but I've discovered stuff I'd completely forgotten. Recommended for stay at home.
  12. I'm putting them in as archival, as that seems to fit better. I take reportage to mean more current events.
  13. I've got a film scanner and have started to upload marches and demos from the 1970's. I lack the motivation these days to take photos when I'm out walking. And maybe it's illegal to stop to take photos, if sitting down is illegal?
  14. Payment arrived in paypal account on 8th April. Very welcome.

  16. A large Tesco supermarket in Manchester, uk: a 25 minute queue to get in, with 10 out, 10 in. A queue outside a pharmacy as they limit entrance. People generally making an effort to keep distance.
  17. Have to keep plugging away. I think I had about 800 up before I sold anything. On the more recent cityscape shots - isn't that Manchester Town Hall in the distance rather than the cathedral?
  18. 3 sales in Feb. $63 gross. CTR dropping. I'm hungry for more sales. At least we had sunshine this weekend in the North West.
  19. Could it be about the two level commenting option that this url describes? https://smallbusiness.chron.com/post-replies-blogspot-39193.html
  20. I'm able to log in ok. But when I have had a problem logging in I found a way round that can work. If you click on 'sell images' (top middle) and then on 'log in' (top right) a different log in page opens.
  21. Months is possible. I sold two photos to a national uk newspaper, the sale registering here on 5/3/19. They were some of the earliest photos I had sold on here so I was very pleased. They had been published on 17/10/18. I discovered that in March 2019 by googling my name and 'photo'. This is a long game which requires patience.
  22. No, my relative wasn't Jay Maisel, and this was back in the 1960's. I would have liked to be related to Jay Maisel as well, though.
  23. Conference delegates leaving the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, uk, on the final day carry 'Get Brexit Done' signs, a major theme of the conference, and a Boris Johnson doll, past protesters. Only $ for a website but all sales welcome. I'm still amused at waving one's Boris Johnson doll in the air.
