Alamy Exclusivity Policy
Angler replied to Harry Harrison's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
Yes it is a continuing squeeze on contributors which started with the crash of 2008. I started with Alamy in 2003 when the commission was 70/30 in favour of the contributor now 50/50 for exclusivity or 40/60 for non exclusive. Despite the fact I've done pretty well with Alamy, nearly $500k in sales, this email today has had a really negative affect on any remaining motivation I have and I'm really questioning is it all worth it? The hours sat in front of this screen trying to manage 50k+ is mind numbing and I'm afraid to say it may be time to start looking elsewhere for earning potential for m -

Keith was a legend, I'd known him for years, he even built/hosted my web site, we'd had our disagreements over the years but always respected each others work and achievements. It was a mark of the man when he credited me in his Alamy blog of 2017 for recommending Alamy to him as a natural outlet for his work. I'm totally devastated by this sad loss and my heart goes out to Keith's family. This picture shows him working at Brecon Jazz Festival 2010. RIP Keith you will missed by many.

Surge in textbook sales?
Angler replied to John Mitchell's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
I wouldn't call it a surge, more like situation normal. It is though always refreshing to see $180 per image. -
All keywords now visible?
Angler replied to Richard Baker's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
Alamy used to make me happy, back in the day when we got 70% of the sale & the average sale was $150. Where did it all go wrong? -

Angler replied to debramillet's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
As others have said good accurate keywording is essential to buyers seeing your images. Your images are saleable but your keywording is poor, very few of your images have a location or even country e.g. america, US, USA. Make your captions a readable descriptive sentence. The Constant Angler -
Good news and bad news
Angler replied to Southpole's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
You don't say if the batch of images passed QC, "image processing error" is at Alamy's end and doesn't affect your upload, just upload the image again. That's from my experience anyway but others may have an alternative view. J -
Choosing a Subject
Angler replied to Ed Rooney's topic in Stock photography discussion and contributor experience
Shoot the subject matter that interests you and for once I agree with KM make pictures rather than just take them. The Constant Angler
