  1. That is interesting that there are different default prices, though I guess it makes sense to try to align with the currencies/economies of the customer's country.

  6. When I was having trouble, both the web uploader and FileZilla were having trouble, but I prefer to just use FTP through Filezilla. Today I again uploaded some and it went smoothly again. I think in my specific case it was just a hardware problem. Good luck!
  7. When I was having trouble, mine were taking so long that Alamy must have been timing out and then each image (if it uploaded at all) would also only be one image per submission, with several submissions spread out over hours. They all did make it though QC, though, so it worked out! I bought a new wi-fi adapter for my computer and now I have no problems uploading. This is a newly-built computer, and I think I just had a faulty wi-fi connection that was causing issues. I'm sorry that that probably doesn't help anyone else having problems uploading, but in my case, I just uploaded a batch and it
  8. I've been having trouble uploading lately. I have tried both the online uploader and FileZilla, and they both get stuck for a longtime and eventually stop. They first all get stuck (I've tried uploading anywhere from 1-7 photos simultaneously) at 524288 bytes (512 kb, or halve a megabyte) and then Occasionally creep up little by little. I've been able to upload two photos in the last 10+ attempts. The rest all just crashed. Is Alamy experiencing slow servers now? I know the pandemic is of course limiting staff availability, but I didn't know it would also affect uploads... or is it an issue on

  10. Another sale! I'm quite new here, so this has been my best month (in volume) ever with 3 sales! Haha. Too bad this, like the others, was only low $. 11. Two low $ sales today with the same details: Country: Worldwide Usage: Editorial Media: Editorial website Industry sector: Travel & tourism Image Size: Any size Start: 12 March 2020 End: 12 March 2025 Editorial website and app multiple use, in perpetuity
  12. Country: Worldwide Usage: Marketing package - Small business Mid $$, exclusive to Alamy. You never know what people are going to need. Sometimes they want beautiful landscapes, and other times they want photos of your precious strawberry plants being demolished by an insect infestation.
  13. Yes, but it's a bit easier with extra monitor space I think. They're still on the same computer, so I'm just copying and pasting - not going between two computers, thank goodness.
  14. Sadly, you are right. I asked them, and they said they were willing to completely delete the older versions, but will not do the re-tagging for me. They don't have a particularly easy system for copying over tags, but I've kind of gotten the hang of it with the image manager open in two browser windows on two monitors, going back and both. It's slow going when I'd rather be editing new photos, but I think that if I keep editing the same way, neither my new or my old ones will be sellable, so I might as well try to get it right!
  15. Thanks for the quick response! I am using Capture One. In this process, I am learning to love the Highlights and Shadows sliders! I guess my personal inclination is toward leaving in too much contrast. I'm learning to break that habit.
  16. I have re-uploaded over 100 images that I think were too dark, and brightened them. So far I have only re-captioned and tagged about 1/4 of them, but you can now see them in my portfolio. Are these looking bright enough to perhaps be useful? Thank you again to everyone who has offered ideas and support!
  17. Thank you for that! I was curious about this, too. I am actually friends with the artist who designs it, and work at the place where the prints themselves are made and have received permission from all required parties to sell images of these works. Even with that permission and property release, is such an image still not sell-able?
  18. Thanks! Just had my first sale, and I'm going to slowly go through my photos re-evaluating captions and tags, while also re-editing some of the darker landscapes to brighten them up. Thank you all again for the pointers and ideas! All you wonderful people of the Alamy forum have been an immense help!
  19. Low $, but twice. Same details each time. Any idea why the same image would go through twice? Should I expect one to disappear? Country: Worldwide Usage: Editorial Media: Editorial website Image Size: Any size Start: 01 October 2019 End: 01 October 2024 Germany, Editorial website
  20. Thanks again, everyone, for the expert advice. I'll make some more adjustments and get in touch with Contributor Relations, try to improve my workflow, and get going on taking more pictures and editing them in a more salable manner. I use Capture One for editing instead of Adobe software, but it does have keywording capabilities. I just have not fiddled with them at all, since I only submit to Alamy and I happen to find the keywording system here quite user-friendly. Thank you!
  21. Thank you, everyone! I wonder now if it is my monitor that's set too bright, so that my images look brighter than they do on other people's screens! I will keep adjusting to try to see what I can do to make it look right to me, and also look right on Alamy! Thank you for this, too! I'd read so many places that location was very important, so I put it in nearly all the captions, but now I think that putting it in the keywords only makes a lot more sense. Thank you for pointing it out. If I were to do something like this to many of my images, what would be the best
  22. Thanks for the feedback! Now that it's been a few months and I have tried to brighten up some of my later uploads and adjust my keywording a bit, I would appreciate if some people could take a look and offer some ideas. I started getting a little more serious about uploading to Alamy in January or February (though I've had an account for awhile...) but still have not had a sale. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Maybe I use too many tags? Maybe the pictures (mostly of Japan) are not in demand here? Or perhaps I still need to improve (well, I know that's the case...) Any th
  23. I'm 29, and uploaded my test photos first a few years ago, and then didn't upload anything again until earlier this year. Still haven't had any success, but I'm having fun taking photos, uploading photos (mostly still catching up on ones I took in the last 4 years, before I was really interested in making stock photos), researching, and tagging. I don't post much, but I do enjoy reading the forum whether just for fun conversations like this one, or for tips and advice in other parts of the forum. Great community. Now I've just got to figure out how to sell my pictures. 🙂
  24. Thanks! I will be more cautious about shadows! I guess I never realized that dark shadows were considered problematic.
