John Mitchell
In Canada (and in the USA, I think), these are usually called "food trucks". Is there another name for them in the UK?
Sultanpepa
food truck, mobile catering unit, fast food trailer/outlet. Pie wagon is a more jocular local description in these parts.
Betty LaRue
And yes, food truck in the U.S.

losdemas
Also *** van (kebab van, sandwich van, etc.) Food truck to me (southern UK resident) suggests a lorry (truck) used to transport food from distribution centres to retailers (supermarkets etc.)
Matt Ashmore
Catering van, food van, food trailer, burger van (if they mainly sell burgers).
John Mitchell
Thanks very much for the replies. I always put "food truck" in the keywords. Sounds like it's pretty universal now. At least it brings up the most relevant search results. "Food wagon" and "food van" (hadn't thought of that one) also generate good search results, and some buyers appear to use them. However, "food trailer" seems a bit iffy (i.e. lots of irrelevant images come up). Here in Vancouver, these trucks now have very diverse offerings. Some are even calling themselves "gourmet". The days of the humble "greasy spoon on wheels" are all but gone.

MariaJ
That was a good question John. I have a few food truck images in my port. So is a "pie wagon" for pizzza pies, or for sweets? Edit- I just checked, in the last month there have been more searches for "food truck" than "food van".

"food cart" also brings up some images of food trucks, but it might be better used with small pushcarts
Betty LaRue
Here in Oklahoma City, every so often there will be some sort of celebration. Whether a street art show or whatever. The food trucks are a part of it. There will be many...all serving something different. They are almost equal in drawing the crowd as the event is.
