UK Weather: Warm day in the Cotswolds

20 July 2018 Bibury, England UK

Two butterflies enjoying a warm day amongst the flowers with a view of Arlington Row in Bibury, in the Cotswolds.

A very saleable shot, I'd say - rather than the run-of-the-mill 'butterfly on a flower' shot - which could illustrate a lot of different ideas...

I saw a hummingbird hawk moth yesterday, in a suburban garden in England. Never seen one before. Just like a very tiny hummingbird...

St Fagans Museum of Welsh Life (again). Third attempt, this time with a tripod. It's a relief to be rid of the tap obsession.

I got excited by this subject and you'll need to look closely to see what it is. I was exploring a patch of seemingly barren sand and rubble at Tulamben, Bali, looking for goby and shrimp combos, and realised I was looking at what appeared to be teeth, then I saw the eyes, the rest of the body was totally buried in the sand. I've never seen this fish before, and after the photos, I "gently" encouraged it out of the sand so hubby could get some video to help me ID it - and was amazed to see a large, 50cm flatfish appear.

Almost as dangerous, too. Eek.
