Bizair
Hi all. Has any contributor had the chance to try the new Manage Images yet, either a Beta version or otherwise? If so, are you free to comment about your experiences? And, for Alamy, would you please give us some up-to-date indication of when it will be released to all contributors. KWheal
i hope it changes soon because i used that handy interface that was designed by one of the members here for transferring keywords into essential etc but it only worked when the keywords were seperated by spaces . Now they turn up seperated by commas it doesnt work because it cant seperate the words

Betty LaRue
I wonder how long it will take to get all the bugs out, and suggestions from those who have it implemented. Curious to know if it'll be so far down the road that I'll have one foot in the grave and the other foot on a banana peel.
Ed Rooney
Alamy didn't ask me to be part of the Beta Program . . . and I think they should be highly commended for that.
Richard Baker
So do we know if non-testers have been given access yet? Itching to get started tuning my collection here! *Drums fingers on keyboard, nibbles fingernails* Rgds, Richard.
spacecadet
I'm concerned about the "big bang" aspect. This is a quiet time of year for photography so I'm likely to be stuck with the new system when I have a lot of images to deal with.
Matt Ashmore
So do we know if non-testers have been given access yet? Itching to get started tuning my collection here! *Drums fingers on keyboard, nibbles fingernails* Rgds, Richard. Me too.. their most recent blog on the subject back in November suggested it is imminent (in fact, it suggested roll-out starting end of November if I read it correctly). But as someone who works in the world of IT/software development, I know that "imminent" quite easily turns into a year or so.
Matt Ashmore
I'm concerned about the "big bang" aspect. It sounds like you need to invest in some of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-Peltor-Optime-iii-3-premium-headband-ear-defender-H540A-411-SV-ear-muffs-35db-/262582310147?hash=item3d23201503:g:FgwAAOSwU-pXtLMq On a serious note, this doesn't worry me. I suspect that most of the changes to the backend system have already been pushed into production (hence the search engine change threads) and then I suspect that when we get the new MI tools ourselves, it will essentially just be a change in GUI which will likely take just half an hour or so to get used to. Richard Baker
.. "imminent" quite easily turns into a year .. Yes, Matt - I imagine the Alamy team will be having sleepless nights before they set their bird free (rather than a tech, I see myself as a poet ). Rgds, Richard. Bizair
Thanks to all those who responded to my original post. Of course, I fully understand the need to honour a non-disclosure agreement. I guess some of us are just a tad frustrated by the lack of further announcements from Alamy about how the project is going. Nevermind, it will come when it comes. Julie Edwards
As an ex-software developer (User Interface specialist), I know what Beta Testing and NDA's are like so I hope it's going well - I'm glad I'm not on it.... Well I was until I switched to only using an iPad in the field... now it can't come soon enough #sourgrapes ;-)
Adam Seward
Alamy announced on Twitter that the new tools are coming soon and I had this response regarding the timeframe: @adamseward no specific time frame yet, but you should receive the new tools soon so keep your eyes peeled! So I guess they'll be ready when they're ready! Better get it right than rush it out too quickly. Adam

DDoug
Meanwhile, it appears that for those of us who don't have access to the new system, Manage Images has nonetheless changed in the way that it handles spaces and punctuation. I keyword in Photoshop prior to uploading and have no idea how it treats other methods. There's probably no point in modifying what I do until the new system becomes generally available. I keyword in Photoshop prior to uploading and have no idea how it treats other methods. There's probably no point in modifying what I do until the new system becomes generally available. I'd been blithely ignoring this (I keyword in MI) but I've just had a look and it's very interesting. Unpunctuated phrases do indeed get you much higher in a search on the phrase. However putting the phrase in quotes in the search box improves it even more. There's no need to use quotes in keywording anymore, apparently. Interesting. I'm probably repeating what's already been said, sorry.
wiskerke
The results in the searches have nothing to do with the new Manage Image tool. It's all the result of the 12/5 change in the search engine. wim
