The grape harvesting machine is huge, comparable to a combine harvester! Most grapes are still picked by hand locally, but sometimes a machine is used for expediency. A vintner filling a container with grapes in the Kamptal / Langenlois area famous for wine making, Lower Austria, Austria The Danube in the Wachau, Lower Austria, is dotted with picturesque towns and villages along its length. Here you can see the colourful autumn patchworks of vineyards for winemaking, which is the principal agricultural activity in the region. For the history buffs, the ruin of Dürnstein castle on the hilltop is where Richard the Lionheart was captured and held for ransom by the Austrians on his return from the Crusades.
