Arletta
Well, I wish I could be a master of flowers and plants like some of you here, but even after very long search I can't tell more than just "a pink flowers" Anyone, please? Both location in Poland, blooming in (1) July and (2) May... 1. 2.
Betty LaRue
The top ones, I'd look for a variety of Pincushion flowers. They come in blues and pinks.
Reimar
The top image looks like bee balm (Monarda Fistulosa). I used to grow these in my ravine lot before trees and weeds crowded them out.
Chrissie
No, the top ones aren't pincushion flowers. Arletta, and Betty, not to get at you, but to anyone, if you don't know what they are when you take their picture please don't rely on 'answers' in a forum. If you value yourself and others as professionals please don't go with hopeful, half cocked captions.
John Richmond
Top one is Monarda fistulosa - bee balm or bergamot - a cultivated variety, not the native North American Second one is Weigela florida

I think you nailed it. I went back and looked at my image of pincushion and came to the conclusion it wasn't that. You can search Alamy for Bee Balm and one comes up exactly like these. MariaJ
Who's giving people red marks for asking and answering questions?? I've undone them. I see nothing wrong with asking for some help in identifying something (flower, car, whatever).

Well done Maria, I agree - if you have a problem speak out! i do have a problem as a professional plant photographer with contributors trying to attribute a caption to an image without being 100% certain. My livelihood depends on being 100% correct - if I was photographing cars it wouldn't be acceptable to label a 'Porsche' as Mark I when it was Mark IIa (hypothetical obviously I know nothing about cars) On this forum I've seen plants definitively captioned based on someone's answer. No, if you don't know, bin it or label it generically 'pink flower' etc.
Betty LaRue
You must understand, though, that a person who has searched for days as I recently did, can get pointed in a direction. As I was pointed a few weeks ago. I didn't take that person's word for it, but finally had a direction to further investigate. And since my flower is a new plant that came up on my property volunteer, I had great interest to discover the name. Especially since I like it so well I'll be dividing it and starting some of it in a new place. ID was made, investigation was completed, thanks to the kind people of this forum pointing me. I doubt very much that the OP would automatically label her flowers Pincushion or bee balm without further investigation. I know I wouldn't. Those of us who have been at this for years, know better. Arletta
Thank you all for the replies and help, and comments on asking too. To clear up the situation - I do my best to find info about plants I upload and I spend sometimes few hours or even weeks (!) to find one's name. I don't get success every time and then I ask here on the forum (but not only here), hoping that specialists could help me do my work best. I help people whenever I can and I do it every day, it doesn't cost me but brings nice feeling I am useful. Images you see above are from few months ago. Yes, this took me so long to find any info and that's why I ask here now... It's obvious to me to not describe image with first reply I get here, and I still do my search to make sure we are "home". Besides I really like to know plants name, my craze. I was good at it years ago...

It's not invalid because it's not given by an expert. I may even contribute myself if I have reason to know about something. Of course a professional photographer-of-such-and-such doesn't necessarily have a qualification in such-and such.I've even had PMs from forum members putting me right on captions. What they don't say is 'your caption is wrong'.
John Morrison
i do have a problem as a professional plant photographer with contributors trying to attribute a caption to an image without being 100% certain. No, if you don't know, bin it or label it generically 'pink flower' etc. If you "have a problem" with contributors asking for help or providing help, is there really any need to add your comments to the thread? You could just ignore it. I have a - slight - "problem" with fellow Alamy photographers who take terrible pix (but who yet seem able to pass QC!), or upload dozens of similars, or write incorrect captions, or overload with inappropriate keywords, etc. On the one hand it looks "unprofessional", but on the other hand I feel that they are sabotaging their own chances of success, as their ranking falls and their pix sink into the sludge at the bottom of the Alamy barrel. I rather like the fact that, despite being competitors here on Alamy, some contributors are happy to ask questions and that others are willing to answer them. Of course, to be really helpful, we should only offer answers if we are 100% sure of our facts!
John Mitchell
There are some very knowledgeable photographers on this forum, as evidenced above. I always appreciate their help. It's often much more accurate than stuff found on the Web, which can be a real quagmire. That said, I always double and triple check answers as best I can. Betty LaRue
Yes, we have some people who are absolute gems on this forum. I'm always very aware and appreciative of someone who has taken time, some considerable time, to consult his/her resources and answer. We all need to beat back a world that is becoming increasingly uncaring about other people. For my part, I get a good feeling when I help someone, as most of you do. That's the best high there is. Right before a Marguarita.
