The demise of BHZ.

Recommended Posts

Last time I looked at BHZ it had been completely debased by several photographers adding it to multiple images, which is totally against the original thinking behind the idea.

Inchi, try restarting your computer and then using BHZ. It worked for me.

I think it's more likely to be filters Ed, I haven't tried it but I don't think re-starting your computer will clear those, they're pretty persistent.

As I said, Harry, it works for me. I just tried it again. I only check the BHZ once in awhile; it's not an obsession. Anyway, I don't know anything about filters. My system is to stumble in the dark until I trip over something useful.

Quite understand but the new system forces us to know about filters if you want to search on the website. It is easier to clear filters than restart the computer but because the side panel is usually hidden it's easy to forget about them.

I'm an Apple user, so I know nothing about Windows. It's a well known fact that rebooting your computer will fix most glitch problems. And it only takes me a minute. I have (unsuccessfully) looked for info on filters. ??? I will continue the search.

My sales have been steady but prices down. Right now, I'm concerned about my low number of zooms.

On the search results screen you'll see 'Filters' on the left at the top. Click on that and 'Clear all'. That's simple, and it's Mac or PC. Currently the most likely filter that you'll have in place, given that you don't use them, is the one caused by clicking on the blue number under the profile pictures here, it's called 'Same contributor'. That one actually is cleared by going to the main website home page which is why restarting the computer clears it, but so would going to the home page, many others are not as they must be stored in cookies. These can get irritating.

The only way BHZ will work the way we expect it to is if people confine themselves to putting it in as a supertag only. I am on page 5 when I do that and can move to page one if I add caption and regular tab. Also, Alamy is doing something that takes into account images that have sold so BHZ only gives a very rough idea of ranking. I find it useful to find how important caption, supertag and tag are in ranking.

And on one image only, which was my point earlier.

Swings and roundabouts Edo.

My zooms are the highest I have ever had. Still not-a-lot in the general scheme of things but I will take all I can get whether it be views, zooms or better still sales.
