Popular Post Bridget 11
Well I've been with Alamy since October 2001 and today I made my 1,999 sale. Not all my own photos as I was running a small agency in the beginning and have just added to the collection with my own photos as time goes on. Since 2011 sales have been dropping, my best sales were in 2006 with 224 sales. If I sell 6 more images in December the trend will be up, slightly! However the income from this is very small now especially with the hefty 50% on some images. When the 50% was brought it we were told it was to help with setting up of the US business. Surely this is now set up and we can go back to 40%? Wishful thinking.

John Mitchell 4,658
Congratulations on the 1999 sales. Well done. It has taken me seven years to reach about one-third of that number. As discussed in another thread, sales (and hence revenue) tend to plateau, yo-yo, or fall after a number of years. My numbers are down significantly this year. Also, let's not forget that Alamy's 50/50 split is still one of the fairest deals out there. Alamy has said that they have no plans to change it. What goes up must come down, but what goes down doesn't necessarily have to go back up. I think it must have something to do with gravity.

Alan Ha ha, great idea _ so how many Alamy contributors are there now? Oh, only about 36,000 Cheers, Philippe But it looks like the rule doesnt count for Belgium contributors. As far as i know 38,000 split by 2000 is 19. Hmmmmm suddenly Bridget's drink debt doesnt look important anymore. . Mirco
