I've tried several times to get decent images of bluebells in a wood, it's very difficult to deal with the extreme contrast and relative sizes of trees and flowers. I agree and spotted a similar photograph this morning on the BBC Weather report. I can't say it's the same one as I only saw part of it as the weather forecaster was in front of it and it was on the screen for only a few seconds! I've always found natural flora/plants very difficult to capture successfully and so often try to find a slightly different take on the subject (slow shutter speeds, contre-jour, out-of-focus abstracts, etc.) as this field (forgive the pun) is so well covered. I discovered a local bluebell wood close to me thanks to a Twitter post last week (I've travelled for miles in the past). Following the recent FAA thread, I created a new account there and uploaded two taken on consecutive days. One was taken in the afternoon, when the generally grey day had occasional dapples of sunlight in the woods, which added a lovely sparkle on the new beech growth. The second was just after dawn on a beautiful bright day, when even then the contrast was surprisingly harsh - so I exaggerated it and shot into the sun (as James Barrett has done, - but without the exaggeration - above). I'll add them here, but only once I've toned them down a little to appear more 'natural'. Wished I'd added them to the news feed first, now! The two are Bluebell Wood and Bluebell Wood Sunrise (please forgive the shameless self-promotion, but I don't think I'll get any visitors there otherwise!)
