September 2024 favorite uploads

Recommended Posts

This thread is still being ignored while August 2024 favourites was still being added to yesterday 5 September!!!

I'll add an image to see if it gets this thread off the ground.

I don't usually post anything in the favourite uploads threads but having made the effort to go out in the rain to get some cycling shots on Wednesday I'm pleased I bothered although for the pathetic amounts paid if any ever get noticed I wonder if I need psychiatric help sometimes.

Here's one I like anyway.

I've been travelling through a remote national park for a week or two now.

Camped by the side of lagoons teeming with birds, fringed by fruiting coral trees, it has been a great pleasure to wait and see what turns up.

And most amazingly, I'm able to upload from middle of nowhere thanks to Starlink!

Still camped by this magical lagoon away from the madding crowd. As we were tucking gingerly into our lunch, this beauty interrupted it. Not shy, he just circled around us, tongue out  smelling the air. He just reminded me of the bulldog we recently took care of. Very powerful. Mertens Water Dragon (Varanus mertensii).

Trying to catch up on the backlog...

It's our 4th and last day at the magic billabong. Nature is unpredictable, after the fabulous surprise of a Mertens Water Dragon yesterday, an endangered species walking unimpressed right around us, there was not much going on today wildlife wise.

We are still to see the resident big croc nicknamed 'Eric'. We were confident we would see it because staying put at the same place for a while is a sure way to attract a croc's attention. Mind you, we're not fishing, so are not very generous food givers. So I took the whole day to dive into the depths of my hard drive.

Less often, it adds some je-ne-sais-quoi, IMO, for example:

Yeah. That worked. 👍
