Not here either. Have you tried a systems performance report? It comes with every windows. In Win 10 it's an app. It's easy to do and explained well here. wim

There could be a reason for including one's own name. Mine was to be able to direct a client to my images here easily with a link consisting of a well chosen string of keywords including one of my pseudonyms. Not an option Alamy provides. I know of some other photographers putting in their name or a code for just that reason. Now it enables me to see how many people on Alamy and Shutterstock and a couple of others have scraped my keywords wholesale. It's a mixed blessing: the images are usually abysmal and clients could get the idea they're mine plus that my images are available outside of Alamy. Google is your friend - most of the time, except when it isn't. Re: the advanced search options, years ago the estimate of Alamy itself was that 5% of clients were using them. If you check your own Pseudo Summary, you can see how high that percentage is for your collection. (It's all the stuff between square brackets.) In my case when I last checked, admittedly some years ago, it was around 1%. wim -
You may be missing out on being included in lightboxes that are being put out to clients. Or any other promotional stuff. wim

Is AIM broken....AGAIN?
wiskerke replied to Phil Robinson's topic in Alamy Quality Control and technical talk
I don't really think there is a Ministry of Truth either. It's just a normal office of course. 😁 wim edit: my image of the 16th came online today (Dec 20). -
Is AIM broken....AGAIN?
wiskerke replied to Phil Robinson's topic in Alamy Quality Control and technical talk
Could be, but even then it's useful for everybody to know it. Until it's confirmed it is the new normal I would rather think/hope it's a temporary glitch. Besides what would be the new normal? Is that a database that's only been refreshed every 72 hours? That would be totally unworkable. So it has to be a process in between the keywording and the database refresh. I'm guessing the Ministry of Truth. wim -
Is AIM broken....AGAIN?
wiskerke replied to Phil Robinson's topic in Alamy Quality Control and technical talk
Image uploaded with keywords not showing either. Uploaded 17th according to AIM. Accepted and on sale more or less right away but not showing. I think I uploaded it on the 16th, but it may be right and it was 10 minutes past midnight after all. Still way before the usual refresh time. So indeed we're 2 or 3 refreshes behind. Having no Live News access anymore doesn't help. Mine was just a building: no hard news. Just an organization in the news with very few images on Alamy. wim -

Screenshot/photo of website for archival?
wiskerke replied to BradleyPhoto's question in Community support: ask the forum
I don't get it. Firstly when a contributor wants to remove an image immediately, the route is through the contributor desk. Otherwise, after deleting it yourself, the image is still searchable at least with it's Alamy reg#. Secondly: the copyright warning on screen in the image was about the contents of the website, which includes it's appearance and design. Not just about this particular map. This applies to all screenshots of course. Which is why most people publishing screen shots on Alamy, do so with a personal, creative twist. Admittedly these personal creative twists are not that unique: the possibilities are a bit limited if you want keep the thing readable. wim -

1+ for the Nile Cruise. A bit of a tame affair, but not to be missed. The river is gorgeous. I've tried both buses and trains too. We went there because it was cheap. Hmm why is it so cheap? Oh they have just massacred 62 tourists. So it's many years ago. No tourist in sight. You felt like someone entering a house after the people and their 10 cats have been away for 4 weeks. The fleas are desperate and the moment you set foot in the house they are on you up to your belt one inch thick. It was like that with sellers of rugs; donkey rides; hotel rooms; unthinkable richness from the tombs and other junk. However we had a secret weapon: near the Valley of Kings we stayed with a very respectable old sheikh, who ran the government guesthouse where all the real Indiana Joneses of the world had stayed and where now professors and students that had won a grant were allowed to stay. We had an introduction. And to everybody even approaching us we said: Oh but we stay at Sheikh Ali. This worked a charm even in Aswan, that's 150 mile (240km) from there. We got tea and coffee and please give my regards to the old man. The government guesthouse is in the distance on the right. film scan - never licensed. We missed the pyramids because of dense fog. And it was perfectly safe with the army everywhere. Like in the train: no please take a seat on the other side because there has been some shooting recently, but always from this side; never from the other side. Great country! 😂 There's one little thing though: don't go there as a female alone. Just don't. And if you're with male company, make sure you are no more than 2 steps away. I'm not kidding. Encounter with a sugar train, sugar country 20km South of Luxor. film scan - never licensed. wim -

Problems with uploading photos for sale
wiskerke replied to Arthur Batenburg's question in Community support: ask the forum
What exactly is the problem you're seeing? You do know that after putting everything in, you will have to wait till the database refreshes until the image is online. Database refresh happens once every 24 hours normally. wim -
Problems with uploading photos for sale
wiskerke replied to Arthur Batenburg's question in Community support: ask the forum
If you put in 1 tag at a time, nothing but words. Some other characters will split up key phrases into keywords and others just will not show. If you want to put in a whole list of keywords (this speeds up the process) have a comma in between keywords and key phrases. I do it like this: European Medicines Agency Amsterdam, EMA HQ Amsterdam, EMA, Amsterdam, European Union, Medicines Agency, If written in one sentence that would be: European Medicines Agency Amsterdam, EMA HQ Amsterdam, EMA, Amsterdam, European Union, Medicines Agency, And then I throw the whole thing into that input box. Putting them in one by one does give you a little bit more control though. There is a maximum to the amount of words allowed in one tag and a maximum amount of characters. There's a warning if you go over it. There is a Lightroom plug-in for sale somewhere that makes things easier. I don't use it, because I don't use Lightroom. A quick search on this forum will bring it up. A lot of photographers and agencies will never have to use the AIM because they will have their keywords in the metadata (IPTC fields) of their images on upload. wim
