Jansos
I retire in two week's time and hope to start travelling a bit more. I would prefer not to have to carry a laptop around with me for Lightroom editing purposes. Any suggestions for lightweight editing on the go? I am assuming Lightroom Mobile and a newish iPad might suffice? SD card export to iPad, edit locally on iPad and then upload to Alamy? Would that work or is there a better solution? MTIA!
Mr Standfast
Enjoy your retirement! ย Don't know much about ipads, I'm happy with my laptop. ย But how about switching your thinking around? Keep the laptop and just get a smaller camera? ย Have a good one! ย ย
sb photos
There must be small lightweight laptops still available. I use a variety of laptops. My current favourite, although getting a little long in the tooth, is a 2017 Apple MacBook 12" Retina. It's small, very light (0.92Kg), has very good battery life since I replaced the battery, and runs Photoshop adequately for my use. I can charge it in the car, or get 2 charges from a power bank. Its only downside is it only has one USB-C port.
Allan Bell
Not 100% but I believe there are one or two people on the forums use iPads for processing. ย I could be wrong as memory is not up to scratch. ย Allan ย
Gervais Montacute
iPad Pro (with as much memory as you can afford) with Lightroom is the way to go. Not the cheapest option but probably the best. Edited July 13 by Gervais Montacute

But not necessarily at the same time. ย Allan ย
Michael Ventura
FWIW, I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (a few years old) that works great! It can be used like a tablet or with a integrated keyboard and it runs on windows.ย It also has more ports than an iPad, tho you can get a dongle for iPads.ย If you are an Apple user than forget what I wrote.
