It used to be that Novel Use was indicated as such with the sale.

And they didn't count towards the sales in the Alamyrank algo.

Now there's no indication that it's a Novel Use, could it be these do count for one's Alamyrank?

In that case: the more the better!

Not sure about that Wim. NU used to be excluded from Alamyrank algo because of its low prices. It was skewing the ranking down. The price of a license used to be taken into consideration in the algo.  Nowadays, there are lots of low sales but also still some decent ones. Who knows the ingredients of ranking calculations these days.

Years ago I used to use a taxi driver who said his small jobs usually lead to bigger jobs.

On the face of it Alamy seem to be offering crazy low packages. But I do wonder if Alamy are trying to increase their customer base.

Would these low price customers have gone elsewhere ?

Many may now be knew customers with a big spend budget.

Who knows eh ?

I have seen many crazy sales which I too are not happy with. But I'm starting to also see an amount of reasonable ones.

Sadly though over the past two years the number of my annual sales had been reduced.

(Apart from this year as things are growing back again)

that would make sense, but when NU is being offered to a UK media organisation, who should know who Alamy is...  and let them go elsewhere, how does 10 cents help Alamy. Contract and Billing alone probably cost more than that.

also I notice one of the famous cheap deal with Alamy, seems to only selectively use Alamy for my more uncommon images.  You would at least think Alamy would insist on exclusivity when they do these deep discount.

It is a peculiar (to say the very least) business practice to promote the big advantage that your company has, then bargain the prices right to down to the lowest levels of the most uninspired business competition. The fact that Alamy is uncurated and open to anayone's weird and oddball photos was what made Alamy such a great start-up and why it became a world-size company in a short time. Its too bad to see all that squandered for keeping down with the competition. Quality and exclusivity does have a value - I can't see Ferrari making a $15000 hatchback or Armani making a $100 department store suit.
