lrj
Just wondering how useful folk are finding the "What to Shoot" list. I'm new to stock, so I'm wondering how much effort, if any, its worth putting into creating new images that are specifically on that list. Or is it just worth browsing the list to see if you have images that will match a request ? It depends a little on how the list is made. I guess you can go & check on All of Alamy how many searches have been made recently for a topic & make your own judgement ....
John Mitchell
Have to admit that I don't consult the list often as I find it a bit frustrating to navigate. The requests don't seem to get recycled very often either -- i.e. they linger there for ages, which makes me wonder if they haven't already been filled or the buyers have found what they need elsewhere. That said, having such a list certainly isn't a bad idea. However, I find Alamy Measures AoA much more useful.

Being that it's a list of 'unfound' subjects, it's most likely that the ship has sailed and it's just an attempt to plug the gap ready for a potential future customer who may never arrive. It's worth looking at for anything that could be filled locally or otherwise easily without too much effort, but don't go out of your way.

Back in the 90's, I used to get "subject needs" lists mailed to me from a specialist stock agency that I contributed to. The needs seldom got updated significantly, so I treated them with a grain of salt and didn't go out of my way to fulfill them, especially since it would have involved extra travelling and expense. The lists did serve as useful guidelines, though.

MizBrown
My only sale of 2019 since the fall of 2018 was one of these, out of 14 or so that I said I'd covered. No guarantee, but worth taking a look at and also will suggest other keywords that might be searched for in the future.
Bill Allsopp
I have not found it helpful; but perhaps I am not that kind of photographer.
AlanW
For better or worse I tend to do my own thing and shoot what I find interesting, so I've never bothered to look at the list 😕
lrj
Thanks for all the repsonses folks. Sounds like its not a top priority, but worth a glance
Stephen Dwyer
I agree with above comments, I went out and specifically shot a bridge early one morning based on the list; no views or sales since. not too concerned though as this is a long game and looking for instant sales is fraught. I would treat it as a list of potential targets if you are in the area.
