Alex Ramsay
I wonder whether anyone can identify these two aerial pics of cities in wartime Germany? F8EM0T (relatively easy) and F8CJ6C (difficult)
spacecadet
From the date, the second one is probably Hamburg.
Malcolm Park
From the caption on the second neg, 542 squadron were aerial photographic reconaissance, photo probably taken from a Spitfire X based at RAF Benson. Perhaps RAF records could give you a specific location though, like Mark, I thought Hamburg.

Gruffydd
Could the first one be Wurzburg (Wuerzburg - sorry, I can't get an umlaut on that first u)?
Callie
Agreed the first one is Würzburg, I was there in the summer, you can easily see the Fortress Marienberg on the hill with the wine terraces in front and the river and bridges.
Paul Heinrich
I'd take a guess at Wilhelsmhaven for the second one - a modern aerial image from Bing maps shows a vey similar configuration of docks south of Bismarckstrasse complete with naval vessels. wiskerke
Second is Kiel. Here's an earlier one. wim Here's a detail, showing the ship: it's the pocket battle ship Scheer.
Cofiant
Second is Kiel. Here's an earlier one. wim Here's a detail, showing the ship: it's the pocket battle ship Scheer. Wim - Well spotted, considering the dock has been filled in. Its an area of Kiel called Ellerbek Kevin
wiskerke
Würzburg was a good spot too. Maybe a bit easier when you know your German Burgen, Schlösser and Festungen. ;-) Interesting detail: the left bridge is partly a US Bailey bridge. wim
