Vincent Lowe
Anyone know what these are and what would they be doing on top of a mountain in the Outer Hebrides? Near the summit of Beinn Mhor on South Uist. Plenty of Sea Eagles about here, I saw two earlier in the day - remnants of an eagles dinner? http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc205/loweskid/alamy%20forum/_dsc9030_zps1f23f80c.jpg

Vincent Lowe
Thanks. I'm trying to get the image to display on the page but it keeps saying I can't use that extension - it's a bloomin' jpeg for gawd's sake...!
Guest
The url with additional tag works in preview but not in a post - odd.
John Richmond
It's an edible crab - or bits of one. A walker's lunch?
Chris E
I think John has nailed it! Four cooked crab claws, no shell = upmarket lunch for hiker. Cheers Chris E

Cheers Chris E Ok thanks, I'll go with that. Obviously a better class of hiker up there than I'm used to on the Pennine Moors. Prefer a cheese and pickle butty meself.... The url with additional tag works in preview but not in a post - odd. Yes, that was happening to me. Thanks all.

Phil Robinson
Looks like the famous but rare Hebridean Mountain Crab to me. They live in old haggis burrows and are strictly nocturnal, as they explode when exposed to sunlight. I think that is what happened here.
