  1. Jools, The 30%/40% Getty split is long gone! If you have images sub-distributed by another agency through Alamy, you only get a % of their %. If you are making big money through direct sales from said agency then please share! Alamy's % is still better than most. Chris E
  2. This isn't a copyright issue for the original photographer. It was shoot in the early 60's when in the UK the photographer was either employed by record company in which case the company owned everything. Or was commissioned by either the band or record company as 'work for hire' and they still owned the images. A long hard fought battle for many years resulted in the Copyright Act 1988. In the record industry album covers had vast amounts of money spent on design and photography as the cover was an integral part of the whole package. This act allowed photographers to not only charge a day rate but also for usage rights. For this image someone probably owns many sheets of trans from the original shoot. Cheers Chris E
  3. I think John has nailed it! Four cooked crab claws, no shell = upmarket lunch for hiker. Cheers Chris E
  4. This puts them all in with Getty's new iphone collection Moment. I haven't checked to see if it's live yet. The Moment app available to download . I don't know if that's for everybody we were invited a few weeks ago as GI contributor. Nice to see Alamy roll it out first.... Cheers Chris E
  5. Melcher shares his thoughts. http://blog.melchersystem.com/2014/03/06/getty-images-gamble/ Regards Chris E

  7. In this house it would be +1 to that. Chris E
  8. Wonderful cold images! Has anyone thought about 'cold' as an emotion in people? Unresponsive, aloof, lacking empathy, distant. Just a thought to widen the brief. Chris E
  9. 'Tis the season for 2015 selections, just and only just. Calendars have a huge lead time. Already received royalties for 2014 ones. Chris E
  10. I don't think QC ever miss anything if they check an image. They may look at 1 in 10, or 1 in 50 who knows. I think it depends on your QC history. Getting a dust spot through isn't lucky, it's just not been looked at. Chris E
  11. Just squeaking in by one vote the winner is Colin Woods. Thanks to all who took part, over to you Colin for a new topic! Cheers Chris E
  12. Reminder - poll closes at midnight on 10th Nov. Please take time to vote. Cheers Chris E
  13. Hi Ed, If this refers to my post here it wasn't in the wrong place at all! I know exactly what's meant to be where, but this was nothing more than an invite to 'cross forum' and look at the images. It's the first time Alamy contributed to the thread with words of appreciation. As a company they demonstrate an extraordinary open dialogue with contributors, see recent change in blog on payouts. My guess is that they would like to encourage a greater sense of community on this new forum and it was a stonking set of entries. I do hope you have taken the time to vote :-) Leaving the space now... Cheers Chris E
  14. Robert, Oh dear that's too far back to remember! Well I can but prefer not to. Back in the days of 10"x8" trans and couriers. Lived in the dark mostly.... Thanks for voting. Cheers Chris
  15. It seems that a load of you only inhabit one discussion area. I'm the same and don't ever read this one! Please take time to pop over and vote in the October Challenge 'Harmony'. Great images, choosing will be hard. Cheers Chris E
  16. I have, I have! Except Philippe's which is to follow. C..
  17. I know Paulette I'm trying to do that now.... C
  18. A little late but here we go....such diversity, so many genres. Tried to keep a broad range of interpretations. There were some with really strong commercial messages that had several very similar entries. I've tried to pick the best from each. Enjoy my personal eye candy because that's all it is. 19. It's already late and having finally made my selection for the poll I am having trouble with making it appear. I have all in info in Poll manager, have clicked finished and when I try the insert poll icon in tool bar I get an error message. Savy plain speaking person needed. Thanks Chris E
  20. Harmony is now closed.......thanks for a massive 50+ entry! Now the daunting part, my selection........and it will be just that. If you don't get short listed it's only my eye not the ROW making a call! Cheers Chris E
  21. It's my understanding from Alamy that 'purchase path' means any image sitting in a lightbox too. So not limited to license(sale), OP should not get too excited yet. May be MS wold be kind enough to clarify the term 'purchase path'? Regards Chris E
