commas / space a requirement?

FocusUno

Question

Concerning commas, does anyone know if space a "must" after comma?

In getting rid of quotation marks
"Miami Beach" Florida "Ocean Drive" "Art Deco District"
I would normally change to preserve phrases
Miami Beach, Florida, Ocean Drive, Art Deco District,
but in the name of saving caption character space
Miami Beach,Florida,Ocean Drive,Art Deco District
would this backfire...?  TIA

These are keywords, not captions.

I do exactly as in your third example. No problems whatsoever and it saves unnecessary keystrokes.

In your captions? The two of yours I randomly clicked on have proper captions.

No, not in captions, only keywords. For captions I simply use a straight forward sentence or sentences that describe the image and where space allows I may include spaces between the location words, e.g. Hampshire, England, UK, but that isn't essential.

Yes, I try to caption in sentences.

The OP was specifically asking about captions, as she currently captions with keywords.

thanks for responses

final question:
word1 word2 word3,word4 word5 word6 word7 word8,word9 word10,
assume word9 word10 is a phrase or isn't a phrase
is final comma needed, or can a character space be saved without unwanted effects via:
word1 word2 word3,word4 word5 word6 word7 word8,word9 word10
TIA

I keyword and caption in Adobe Bridge. If your last keyword is a phrase then when you import the keywords into AIM that last phrase will come across as separate words. So if my last keyword is Chateau Frontenac it will come over to AIM as Chateau, Frontenac. To avoid this i put a comma then a single letter. I would keyword Chateau Frontenac, z. Then my Chateau Frontenac will be preserved as a phrase and when I am choosing the supertags in AIM its easy to just delete the lone z. Did that make sense?

I always separate keywords by semicolons in Adobe Bridge. Never seen problems with the last one as a phrase, even if I didn't put a semicolon at the end...

Same here (Bridge), but I use commas and not have one after the last phrase. It remains a phrase.
