Cambridgeshire meet up

Recommended Posts

A while ago a group of 4 photographers, (a quorum?), met up in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England for a chance to engage face to face for discussions on the state of stock photography, Alamy, techniques and processes etc, and to enjoy a meal and a drink in like minded company. Yes our profession can be a lonely, even insular, business and we believe it does one good to socialise a bit too.

The group has grown and now consists of 8 photographers who enjoy each others company and, although not all can make it to each meet up, we would be interested to see new faces from time to time and to hear their take on stock photography in general. You do not have to be located in Cambridgeshire to come along as we have members, who already join our meetings, from London, Essex, Suffolk, Northamptonshire and Lancashire.

Although this notice may be a bit late a meeting has been arranged for the 17th January Midday in Cambridge and if anyone is interested in coming along please contact me

on                                                        for details.

As details of the meeting place have been given below I am removing my email address from this post.

Hi Allan,

I see your meeting is during midweek, i.e. during a 'working' day. Where in Cambridge do you meet and for how long?

Andy

Hi Andre. We usually go for lunch in the Wrestler's Arms on Newmarket Road which serves good Thai food at reasonable prices. We can go on for several few hours nattering but people are free to leave as they want :). The reason for the midday, midweek meetup goes back to one of the guys working in Cambridge and only being free at lunchtime, but he has left the region now so I don't think there is any real reason to necessarily keep to this in the future if others wanted to join and can't do midday, midweek.

Thanks for the info. I live in Cambridge (off Huntingdon rd) but I may be starting a new job - not certain.

Andy I am sorry I did not get back to your earlier post but I think Mick has answered your questions. The only other thing I would add is that the Westlers closes at 3.00pm and does not serve coffee. Plenty of other drinks though both soft and alcoholic.

Hope you get your new job but still hope to see you on the 17th too.

Good to see you back on the forum Allan, I had the impression something was amiss.

Would love to join your group, but just a tad too far to drive!

Thank you for your concern Bryan. It was nothing serious just needed some time to regroup.

You would be very welcome to join us any time you are down this way.

Perhaps you could let us know when you are coming and we could arrange an impromptu meeting, assuming the group members are available, to say hello.

This goes for anyone else who may find themselves in our vicinity too.

Hi Andy & Chris

Look forward to meeting you on Wednesday - well worth arriving exactly at midday if possible to get first crack at tables, food and drinks as can sometimes get quite crowded!

Cheers

Hi Allan,

Just wanted to check that you got my email on 10th as I didn't receive an acknowledgement from you.

I can make it for a couple of hours on Wednesday after all.

Andy

Hi Andy,

I did send a reply to your email as below. Maybe it went into your junk mail?

"Hello Andy,

Thank you for letting me have your email address. I will add it to our contact list.

To date the people who are definitely going to be at the meeting on the 17th are Kumar (Doc), Mick (MDM), myself, and two new faces David Burton and Chris Lawrence (essexps). Julian Eales may be there but I have not heard back from him yet. There may be another new face David Humphreys. Not on Alamy yet as far as I can tell.

Hope all goes well with the new job.

Regards,

Allan"

Allan,

Yep, definitely on Alamy - I tend to regularly post on the "have you found any Alamy images" thread.

Sorry David,

I did a quick look but did not see you on the forum. I do not post on the "images found thread", only carry out a search on there to see if anyone has found any of my images from time to time. Only happened once.
