Marianne
When you are preparing your DACS claim and your image has been used in both hardcover and paperback books with different ISBN numbers, do you count each as a separate use or as one use? I've been counting them as one, but I think I'm wrong. With the deadline approaching hope someone can help. Thanks!

spacecadet
Where DACS is concerned I pile in all the info I can manage. DACS earns its keep by sorting out what's relevant- they've never complained about having to filter out what isn't. it's their business to know. Alex Ramsay
Each new edition of a title (not simply a reprinting) will have a different ISBN, so counts as a separate usage

spacecadet
Surely they need to check every form to see how many qualifying licences there are.

Do you mean you send them a list of licenses that don't qualify as well, meaning you send them a list of every single sale regardless of the market? If so, I have never seen any instructions from them saying that that's what they want us to do.
spacecadet
When I started claiming in 2013 I suggested sending a net revenue spreadsheet and was told that this would be in order together with the Alamy summary of images sold as a .mht archive file, which is uneditable anyway. I have never edited the spreadsheet either. So those were my instructions.
regen
May be at x purposes here. I was referring to the 10% of pot under new system where I have email verification from DACS. I have never needed to make a claim for Alamy licences via DACS as already have enough from own direct sales. Surely the print out you send to DACs which has been provided by Alamy does not allow DAcs to come to any different conclusion to the one you would come to. i.e. either they count worldwide or they don't. As the 10% rule becomes established -50% of pot after 5 years then it becomes vital that the ISBN/ISSN and/or title is not only known but matches that shown on the CLA site. When I file the claim the only thing they ask for is 3 ISBN numbers for UK publications. I write Alamy for ISBN numbers and that's it. Only one time they asked me to send them a list of sales (I've been claiming for the past 4 years). Here is what the e-mail from them said last year: "If you could send through those sales that you are claiming for (so UK only licenses), we will review it and then let you know if we can accept it". The didn't ask me for some .mht file. I created my own file with the UK and Worldwide sales from the sales report and got a confirmation that all was accepted. EDIT to add: this has nothing to do with the 10% pot

spacecadet
Well I'm not going to post my emails here, but obviously your method is acceptable as well. They did ask for a "sales report" and suggested that the page with the thumbnails would do. So I save that page as .mht. FYI .mht is the extension for an archive file which opens in a browser just like a webpage. Interesting to hear that Alamy will tell you ISBN numbers- we were under the impression that they wouldn't volunteer any information at all. Marianne
Quote from tarsierspectral - No, I write the words ALAMY in the ISBN field Guess I misunderstood what you wrote initially - Thanks for clearing that up! Another greenie for being so responsive and polite - answering my initial question and explaining what you meant by "writing Alamy" LOL. Appreciated. Thanks too Alex for your answer & explanation (more greenies), and to all of you who tried to help. So many forums get bogged down with negativity and I have to say the people on this one do a much better job of being helpful and staying mostly positive than most.
