Question

My first submissions  were rejected. Too soft and no definition. Also on was too shakey. The photos were 71 DPI and need  to be 300 DPI. I used the noise tool in LR.

Concert photos are a different phot depending on the environment. We all have our way of shooting.

I want to sell well known musicians. Where do I submit them, archival/reportage?

Is the first submission to check out your work?  Also, how do I add a URL to a photo on my hard-drive?

My personal view:

Alamy is right. Low light conditions = noise and softness/movement. 71dpi/300dpi is not the same as pixel count, I deliver 7500x5000px in 72 dpi.

The events you shot are not unique, bands are generic, no reason to send them as reportage as there is a lot of similar shots here. If you have famous bands - send them as news footage with a proper description. Technical faults = automatic rejection.

For the first submission get your best images without issues, if you have problems with proper export from LR/Capture1 - find someone who could do that right, including post production (retouching). Alamy spend more time to check first uploads, don't sent them the same images twice - that would frustrate you and cause problems with your further uploads as that affects your QC rank (deeper checks).

Poor lighting conditions inevitably lead to technically questionable photos. Too high ISO settings, too slow shutter speed etc. cause noise and/or blur.
For starters, use pictures you have taken under good conditions (bright environment, quiet subject, good camera with large sensor and high resolution).
The interior shots of concerts are inevitably noisy. You can get the noise under control with LR, C1 or other editing software. It is easier, better and faster with special software, such as Denoise from Topas.
Check every (really every) photo you submit in 100% view. Only when everything is sharp and not noisy in this view, you are done with the processing.
Good luck.

"Reportage/Archival

We have an additional upload route for collections of reportage or archival images which might not meet our technical standards for regular stock imagery.

We have high customer demand for this type of imagery, so if you have a collection then make sure you let us know.

  • What do we mean by reportage images?
Photojournalistic images illustrating a story but captured under difficult circumstances and might not pass our standard QC checks. Examples include photo essays or features."

though this is the "official" definition, the Reportage track does not really seem to want many of these, though maybe OP having failed QC will help, as I was told that was now a requirement (literally: "go fail QC with these images first, then we will consider maybe Reportage", and no i am not losing my 5 star rating to get reportage.  I also recently had images from a world cup event, lots of UK athletes in action, and again denied.

Can't judge the system, I think it is relatively clear and fair here, on Alamy... If you have world cup event covered - send it as news footage. I did it for London Marathon some years ago. You have to make a proper lead, description, etc. All the info here:

Not sure with the News availability has to do with access to reportage.  I guess you are amongst the lucky one with News access. Also the one hour requirement for upload can be quite restrictive.

Would love to get your input how you got Reportage access. What was your submission for approval subject matters

How aggressively did you remove noise? Don't be tempted to use so much NR that your images turn into watercolour with subjects that look like they're made out of rubber. As you most likely know, noise is a fact of life in digital imaging. Too much aggressive noise reduction actually has negative effects, including the risk of banding in plain areas and complete loss of detail. Try to remove as much chroma noise as you can (colour splotches) but don't seek to remove all of the luminance noise (texture). I would try to submit again with less NR if you really believe the photos are not soft (shaky is a different matter, you can't really fix that). You can also downsize the photos if they are particularly large. Alamy thankfully has a common sense approach to noise in my experience - I have submitted several photos as single uploads which definitely did have some luminance noise in plain areas at high levels of zoom, but it is such that it will never be noticed by a practical observer. Noise is also much less of a problem in print, which you may or may not know.
