Fee for exhibition usage

Just had an enquiry about using one of my pictures at 4m x 3m for a cultural exhibition in Germany - anyone got any thoughts about an appropriate fee to ask?

I've licensed a number of images for museum (mainly in the USA) exhibits through my PhotoShelter website. I generally ask for $150 - $250 (USD), depending on usage size and duration of the exhibit. This was a good market for me, but unfortunately it has dried up during recent years. Good luck.

Alamy does have a category for Museum display (single use) in the rm license calculator. It's not easy to find, but better don't use it.

Alamy itself doesn't seem to use it either, because the negotiated fee for one of mine was just under 300 us for 3 months. This was in the US in 2018/2019.

If it is not easy to find an alternative to your image or to replicate it, I would ask more. 4x3 means it's a significant feature.

Any hint of how important the venue is? City Hall; Kunsthalle; Museum? Regional or national?

I had this use on the 17th  for $137.36 gross.   Country: United Kingdom Usage: Editorial Media: Museum display (single use) Print run: Single use only Image Size: Any size Start: 17 August 2020 End: 17 August 2030 Licence offered for lifetime of display. Interactive Digital/AV use, with images used on tablets within the museum display.   John.

Result, especially at 0% commission.

So the Germans still value photography then. Although, of course, if your first offer is accepted- you're not asking enough!
