Upload not working?

Recommended Posts

FZ always seems to require two attempts, the first just times out.

I'm having not trouble at the moment. Try the icon with the red cross then the green tick.

Assuming the settings are correct, try posting the log  and I'll see if it looks like mine.

Mine looks like this

Go into Site manager . New SIte

Host: upload.alamy.com (note no ftp..)

Encryption: Use explicit FTP over TLS if available (this is probably your problem, my guess is you have 'require explicit FTP')

Logon Type: Normal

User: Your Alamy login name (email)

Password: as used for Alamy

You can also go into Advanced tab and add a default local directory (typically your pictures directory or your uploads folder)

Click connect.

On the left you should see your uploads folder (if you set it up) and on the right the folders on the Alamy server:

Live_News

Archive_Stock

Vector

Stock

Select and click on whichever is appropriate to open it which make sit the destination folder

Drag and drop the batch of image files from your local (uploads folder or sub folder), or from a folder in WIndows Explorer (or Mac equivalent).

Watch them upload in panel; at the bottom.

That's it!

Thanks Martin, I did manage to get that far but the connection kept dropping out. I am only trying to upload 11 images, 6 seemed to transfer, nothing showing in Alamy yet often slow I know.

But the bottom pane was showing 33 successful transfers.I will get there I am sure.

Thanks again.

Good. Some people have reported occasional FTP issues recently I believe? As well as with the web upload, both presumably going onto the same servers.

I couldn't get past 2% with the uploader for 2 days. Thought was my unreliable Internet till I found this thread. Now a convert to the ftp route, no need for third party software if you're on windows- Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) functions as an ftp client. So simple ☺

So you can but it's a bit inscrutable unless you're hardcore techy. Filezilla holds your hand a bit.

Martin.

I did see it and it was very helpful, so thank you once again Martin.

I have managed to upload now, the issue I had was that not all of my images appeared on the right hand side. So kept clicking and finished up with 33 images uploaded instead of just 11. Will do better next time I am sure. Either way I can see it is a doddle and much quicker.

Alamy confirmed that they had an issue with their server, hence all the hassle.

Thanks everybody for the advice and help.

With FZ, drag and drop each folder only once. The folder will be visible inside the 'stock' folder on Alamy's side, but the contents are emptied out straight away so you don't see them again. In fact the empty folder tends to hang around for a while. I delete it manually.
