Translations ... again

Recommended Posts

Don't remember what I was looking for, but I noticed that names of people e.g. celebrities called "Mary" are translated as "Maria" on Alamy's Spanish and German language sites.

Personal names should never be translated.

Hahaha.

The person concerned was actually Mary Berry - which should have been (if done properly) translated as Maria Beere. But Berry was not translated.

It's very hit and miss. Sometimes they are translated, sometimes not. I can't work out why

Any idea why Mhairi becomes Nicole?
