What daily papers report on Speedway?

Recommended Posts

Hi I will be going to a speedway match with photographers accreditation on Friday, and thinking about uploading some live news for the event. Do you know of any UK daily press reporting on UK Speedway? I would like to keep an eye on them.

Thanks

Would you not be better off approaching the speedway press?  I love the sport but it's just not mainstream, unfortunately.  If it were me, I'd focus on the pits and social shots.

Sadly, I think that the only chance that the dailies would be interested is if there were to be some disasterous crash.

Yes, crashes like the Erik Gundersen incident.  That was horrific.

I agree with Losdemas, the specialist press will already have established relationships with photographers and are unlikely to look elsewhere.

Depending on what level of event you are attending, have a read of the disclaimer and press credentials terms and conditions. If it's part of the Monster World championship I suspect that there are allsorts of restrictions on what you can do commercially with the images, ie press use only. Sometimes big Motorsport organising bodies specifically say that the images cannot be used in Advertising and non event reporting editorial, as they like to be able to control the supply of imagery for these markets, or charge the photographers/agencies for these more lucrative photographic rights.

Even small events specify on the back of the ticket that paying spectators pictures can only be used for their own non commercial use.

Shame about the sport of Speedway going the way it has, crowds of a few hundred theses day for a domestic league meeting, I was a huge Speedway fan/ failed rider in the 1970s when crowds of 5-10000 were common, the GPs still attract  up to 50,000 but that is just a dozen meetings a year throughout Europe.

I didn't know it still existed until seeing it on telly at a Yates' in Manchester the other year. My home town had a big team (Barracudas) and a stadium that was actually demolished a while back.

Boston new hamond beck road! been their  many times on a Sunday afternoon also used to work with one of their riders Stuart Cope about 1976
