AlbertSnapper
One going.......and a new one coming along.... (from the Trinity Mirror group, .....a new print newspaper to be launched). http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/new-day-uks-first-new-7414916 In a radio interview this morning, a review copy had lots of photographs in it. Brave (or foolhardy?) business decision in today's newspaper climate.

Brave (or foolhardy?) business decision in today's newspaper climate. The realist in me (cynic?) says "foolhardy". There are suggestions in the business press that "i", the condensed Independent, was actually doing rather well and propping up the main paper. But selling that means there is no other income to support news gathering etc for the digital paper. Could the changes at The Independent be an asset stripping exercise, realising value while they can? It has gone seriously down market from the lofty ideals from when it first launched; it is arguable whether it is still a 'quality' paper or is actually a tabloid. So the Mirror decision may actually be a good one.Whether it will be good for us is another matter.
