Room for text button

Images with space for text are clearly important to a lot of clients and the easier they are to find, the better. Keywording for this is time-consuming and rather random, given the different possibilities people might search for: room for text / free space / blank space / .....

How about a tick box in Measures for these images?

If you search for copyspace... the term you are probably going to be using, in the past year only about 40 searches included that..... hardly merits a button and a subjective button at that.

A copy space button/filter doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. Just because searchers don't often think to use the terms "copy space" or "copyspace" doesn't necessarily mean that a lot of them aren't looking for these types of images. However, I'm not sure that -- at this point -- many contributors would want to weed through thousands of images in order to click a new button.

yes, that's the trouble with making any changes now - a backlog of 60million images to redo.

Sounds like a good idea......anything that makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for has to be good and would possibly make Alamy their preferred choice (think lazy intern :) ).

Contributors would have a choice regards to going back through their images.

Perhaps if the search engine finds "copy space" or "copyspace" in the keywords it could automatically click the button, or clicking the button could automatically add the search terms.

If an image already has the search term "copyspace" in the keywords, why would you need to automatically click a button or automatically add the search term?

And I can't get my head around thinking that if someone was looking for an image with copyspace they wouldn't specifically search for it (I know I would), which is why adding "copyspace" as a keyword where appropriate has been recommended by many here for years.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ough... I still forget to add "copyspace" all words in it's forms... I prepare hundreds new images and even with my text working document it just happends to forget add it.

In some cases I already have to many keywords to add all the copyspace, copy space, copy-space, which makes even more keywords...

Wondering how many photographers don't know about these words at all ;)

I like the button option a lot! Even if it forces me to review and edit some of my images.

But how do they search?

  • copyspace
  • copy space
  • copy-space

A button would be easier.

Cheers,

Philippe

Wellllll . . . using customer search activity for the past 12 months as a guide, they almost don't:

copy space - included in 24 searches - no sales

copyspace - included in 2 searches - no sales

copy-space -- no searches, no sales

search terms such as the OP's "room for text", "free space", "blank space"  --  zero searches, zero sales.

Perhaps instead we need a tick box for phrases that are searched and that result in sales, such as, for example, "blue sky"

There were 123 searches including "blue sky" resulting in 3 sales

Even "blue skies" included in 20 searches resulted in 4 sales.

A button for "blue sky" and "blue skies" appears to be potentially much more fruitful . . .
