Tags and punctuation

SRJUK

Question

Here is a simple question I hope.  Does punctuation matter in tags?  I.e.  would all of these different tags, which are accepted as different tags by the system actually come up as different search results? This is especially an issue when it comes to the multiple ways you could type a name.

- TS Eliot

- T.S. Eliot

- t.s. Eliot

- ts eliot

- T.S. eliot

Two minutes of testing indicates the following

TS Eliot, 116 images returned

T.S. Eliot, 310 images returned

T S Eliot, 310 images returned

t. s. eliot, 310 images returned

So, the  full stop is ignored as is the capitalisation, but you cannot leave out the space where the full stop should be in a set of initials, unlessthe contributor has specifically included the keyword with the initials without the spaces. In this particular case, putting in a misspelling (T.S. Elliot) would bring up a few more relevant images.

I know you are asking about punctuation but I am pretty sure that it does not seem to matter whether or not you include capitals. That would reduce the alternatives somewhat.
