inkflo
Hello, I am new to Alamy and I wanted to know if I need a release for a photograph that I took at a falconry display? It is purely an image of the bird, no people, background etc. Thank you for any help you can give me. Inkflo
spacecadet
The bird is property so you need a release for RF. It's not necessary for RM.
Sultanpepa
My instincts tell me that Mark is right, but can a bird or wild animal truly be considered property. I wonder?
spacecadet
Yes. http://www.birdtrader.co.uk/falcons/A/birds-of-prey-for-sale.php I expect they have the postcode on rather like a dog's collar.
Allan Bell
My instincts tell me that Mark is right, but can a bird or wild animal truly be considered property. I wonder? I agree that wild animals/birds/etc do not need a release. Animals/birds in captivity is a grey area. As pets need release. Allan
Sultanpepa
Captive is the key word here I think. When does a bird cease to be owned if it chooses to fly away. Put it another way, if the bird is in your house you may claim it's yours but if it's flying in the air over the sea can you really claim it as your own? Any lawyers? lol
vpics
That would only apply to wild birds, I guess. If you need a property release for pets, then birds belonging to a falconry would be considered the same. What always gets me is people taking pics at zoos and putting those out RF. spacecadet
If it was bred in captivity as I'm sure those were, and you paid £600 for it, it's definitely property.
Allan Bell
Photos taken in zoos are RM but no release ticked. Allan
inkflo
Thank you all for your input, much appreciated. I'll use the one I have as RM.
