Help Identify Car Manufacturer and Model

Recommended Posts

Wondered if any antique car enthusiasts might be able to identify the manufacturer and model of this car?

Not sure how to display the image in this post, so if link does not work, the image ID is E9TR7K

Thanks, Phil

Click the little "image" icon in the toolbar above the field where you write your post (hold cursor above each icon and you'll get its description). Then just paste the url of the image (the same url you used in your post above) into the image field that appears on your screen.

Still don't know what the car is though--I thought at first a Model A Ford, but it's not . . .

Can we have a zoom of the badge on the radiator please?

Actually if you have the number plate you can put it through the London congestion charge (CC) web site and it will give you the type and model. Useful little trick for the UK.

Sorry if grandmother and eggs but it is a "vintage" car (pre-WW2 but post Vetran... i.e. post 1904 I think)

Last edit: you can drag the image from the "buyer's screen" into the edit box.

It's an Austin, probably from the 1920s, maybe a 12??

Yes, I think that's it. Try 1928 Austin 12/4.

Here is the exact vehicle :-)

It turns out it's a 1928 Austin 12 'Clifton' Open Tourer

Yes, that looks like the exact vehicle. The car registration on my photo is partly hidden, but it looks very like the TL 48 displayed on the link version.

Thanks to everyone for  their help with this.

NO problem. That was on the LVVS website.

Googling the number plate of a classic car often brings it up. That's how I find them.

In your case the last number could only be 3,5,6 or 8.

Presumably you know that street is Bailgate, with the Newport Arch in the background.

Stick it in the keywords. You never know what soneone's after.

The car is on the right-hand side in the layby about 50 yards from the Arch here

I happened to recognise it from a family do a while back. I obviously didn't drink enough that night if I can remember where I was.
