GaryK
I've noticed that a large number of online news portals are featuring the stories and images (many from Alamy) that have been grabbed from the bigger national newspaper sites such as the Guardian and the Mail online. Is this copyright infringement ?.. If it is it's happening big time. Gary
spacecadet
Yes, unless they're included in a syndication agreement but that's usually only text. If it's on untraceable sites it's definitely infringement.
GaryK
I suppose the only way to curb it slightly is to opt out of the newspaper scheme? Gary
Alex Todd
I suppose the only way to curb it slightly is to opt out of the newspaper scheme? Gary That would only help slightly as you license less numbers of images if you are not in the scheme but any used online at all will be scraped by the news aggregators. Gabbro
That is what you get from the UK Newspaper scheme, lots of "publicity", paid next to nothing.
John Mitchell
Opt-out or be co-opted, that's the way I look at it. I figure that if a British newspaper wants to use one of my photos (unlikely), they can find it in the general collection. The term "scheme" has negative connotations IMO.
