sb photos
I'm trying to use a shortened URL to point to my current Live News upload. I've used TinyURL.com and Bit.ly. The shortened link simply takes me to the general Alamy Live News. The URL I copied pasted into another browser window does what I want, but is far far too long for Twitter etc as can be seen here. https://www.alamy.com/news/#BHM=foo%3Dbar%26qt%3D%26pn%3D1%26ps%3D120%26aoa%3D1%26news%3D%26sports%3D%26entmt%3D%26Videos%3D%26bb%3D1%26md%3DOL7643760%26dt%3D%26gid%3D{700FC3F0-1C13-4A3D-AE47-0B3794227494}%26destxml%3D%26imglst%3D%26orderby%3DDT%26newsseq%3D%26userid%3D%26rand%3D1548587367341 Has anyone got any suggestions how to get around this, I must be missing something simple. sb photos
Thanks for replying Paul. If you click on the very long link you will see what I'm trying to achieve, to show all 41 photo's as you would see by clicking on the the event upload on Alamy Live News. wiskerke
The link keeps breaking with me as well. Don't know why. How do others do this? For the moment here's a workaround: make a new lightbox whaling; put all images in there; mail yourself the URL and use that. In this case: https://www.alamy.com/search/lightbox/3404121.html If you make one yourself, I'll delete this one. wim edit: the good thing about this is your Twitter link will work as long as you want to. Unlike the LIve News page.

Steve This usually works for me. I just copy the url of the live news image page and then use Google shortener, but you need a Google account to do so. Steve I have done what you suggests before without problems, but i may not have used the browser creating problems. You could create a lightbox - that may work differently in the troublesome browser. Niels Oops, sorry. i see that I am way too late

The problem with Tinyurl was that the direct link ( https://tinyurl.com/y9q352os ) didn't work - it kept on breaking and then redirecting to the main Live News page. The Tinyurl preview link did work however. But that would probably put clients off, seeing this big link on the Tinyurl page come up in their browser. It doesn't look that inviting to say the least. The problem has to do with encoding of the link address. If Alamy would offer a shortened link to each Live News item, this would solve problems like this. And it would be much more inviting for contributors to tweet the complete news item, not just one pic. wim edit: Wow from here now the direct Tinyurl seem to work well. From my desktop it still wouldn't. Weird.

The link to Steve's whaling protest now works too. https://tinyurl.com/y9q352os However before there was no way to get it to work. Like even 60 minutes ago it still would not go to the item page directly, but kept going to the front page of Live News. But now from this page here it does work. Just like from the preview page. (That may have something to do with it - hmm.) wim edit: before one asks: yes I did try logging in and out of Alamy.

As above, making a Lightbox is the way to go as It also has the advantage that it is still relevant when the images later move to stock.

I wondered about this but the link still works even when the images move into stock - or at least using the Google shortener, it does, so no need for a Lightbox. I know it will be phased out soon and I will have to find another way to do it.
