Bryan
A friend of mine is having problems with his now out of guarantee RX100. To quote "Just runs through the menus or the images on the disc or the functions" I've suggested a re-boot by removing battery, but that does not appear to have worked. Any other simple remedies short of having it professionally repaired?
Martin P Wilson
Is there a reset to factory default option that can be accessed? There may be a sequence of buttons to trigger it if he cannot access it via the menus.
spacecadet
Might be a stuck button if it's scrolling uncontrollably through menus. A bit of fiddling, canned air or some very careful application of pure alcohol might help

Bryan
Thanks Guys, I've passed on your thoughts. The stuck button sounds plausible.
Peter Jordan
Bryan, In RX100 menu - Spanner 3 - as far to the ,right as you can go there is an item Initialize. Click Initialize gives 3 options, the top one of which is Reset Default That might do the trick....
Bryan
Thought I'd replied to this earlier, but no matter. Bug in the system? Thanks Peter, I'll pass that on.
Bryan
Just heard from my mate. The camera was bought from John Lewis who offer a two year guarantee. It was slightly beyond that period, but he argued successfully that he had lost the use of the camera due to a previous claim. They fixed the camera - a good place to buy from. It was the rear switch cluster that was replaced.
