Stokie
Can someone help me identify these flowers please? They were all taken at Ness Botanic Gardens on the Wirral, Merseyside a couple of weeks ago. I think the first 2 are some sort of Peony but I haven't a clue what the next 2 are! Any help appreciated! John.
Phil Robinson
The first one is a variety of peony, or paeony, but no idea which type. The second seems to be a kind of nettle, though not a common British stinging nettle, due to those thorny parts on the stem. I'm pretty sure its the nettle family though. Stokie
Phil, yes, thanks for that, I had put that they were Peonys but I didn't know what variety exactly. John
John Richmond
The paeony is one of the tree paeonies - don't know which one I'm afraid. Second is Lamium orvala, a dead nettle.
Robert Convery
I'd go for tree Paeony rockii because of the dark base to the petals.

Stokie
Many thanks for all the replies. Paul, thanks for pointing that out, I have put Merseyside in the keywords on the other general shots of the gardens, I'll now add Cheshire! John.
