Fujifilm GFX 100S II. I want one.

This follows on from my post in Betty LaRue’s thread in Let’s talk about pics, ‘Slow forum’.

——————————-

For anyone who doesn’t know, the camera is a 102 megapixel mirrorless digital format camera.

It looks sensational, just from photos. The blurb on Fujifilm’s website says it offers an immersive large format photography experience, and it doesn’t simply make images, it creates vivid memories of your favourite places in breathtaking detail.

That’s for me, not so much my favourite places but popular places and goings on  that will sell in droves on Alamy.

The camera looks like it has a superb feel. I think if I own one I won’t be able to wait to get up in the morning, I’ll be out at the crack of dawn, capturing so many images that will outdo Jeff Greenberg. It will spur me on. I shall be inspired everyday.

There will of course be lenses to buy and doubtless Fuji has some essential accessories for this new baby. I’m also going to need something pocketable to compliment it, I thought a Fujifilm X100VI would prove apposite. Plus my elderly Intel Mac will require updating (talk about stating the bl**ding obvious).

There’s probably other aspects I haven’t thought of. Nevertheless, I want one.

Hi Ric. If you want to discuss this camera in an intelligent and informed way, you would be better to post on DPReview. I doubt that anyone here will be interested. If you look at the thread about what cameras people use, it is clear that most are still using older gear.

If you have a problem with GAS, then don't eat too many beans or seek therapy.

There you got a response. I'm in a clique of one and membership applications have closed. Best of luck with generating responses to your threads 😀.

I watched a video on the new GFX 100S II today which also included a review of the new GFX 500mm prime lens. I am in no position to buy these two items but if I could I would. The 500mm lens is apparently a very reasonable weight for a lens of that size. The combination of the camera and lens would be outstanding for wildlife photography because of the ability to crop and still have a very decent image. I look forward to at least seeing what other photographers do with this new camera and lens.

Pal2tech? HIs Fuji videos are so good.

Yes, that was the one! He was very informative and enthusiastic. It’s the first of his videos I’ve watched.

If you're a well-to-do hobbyist, then GAS is wonderful because the churn puts some nice used cameras in the hands of budding pros and people who can't afford the newest cameras.   If you're not, figure tax write off compared to income.  If you're in an exotic location, being able to get birds and wildlife may pay off and then some.   If you're shooting either the robin that's a thrush in North America or the original robin in Europe, then maybe not.  Plant and architecture specialist, probably not.
