image counts don't match

Jeffrey Isaac Greenberg

Question

there's image count under our forum names;
click on it to see online collection with image count near top;
currently & since last evening those image counts don't match;
that's a new one -- anyone else same issue?
(go ahead, click on my forum count, then see my live count)
I have new live images pending,
the forum count "knows it"
but the collection don't show it...

There's a big discrepancy between mine too. I've always assumed the difference was the number of images awaiting deletion, of which I have quite a lot.

[OK I've just checked and suddenly the numbers are exactly the same. That's a first]

I think it must be newly-submitted images after all. This is the longest period ever that I haven't submitted anything new and for the first time the numbers are the same.

PhilR, thanks for evidencing I am still sane.
You're a real chum, you are.

FYI, my image numbers, forum vs. online, have ALWAYS matched.

Maybe tonight's system refresh will normalize IMC.

Or maybe it will take until Monday, Bloody Monday...

It's caused by the delay in the database updates, which recently has been around two to three days rather than overnight/mid-morning UK time which is/was normal. I've no idea how the forum gets to show a more updated image count than the actual system where the images are held!

As of this minute - 22:25 BST - I have 45860 displayed in both locations.

now Friday problem persists

AIM had me take screen shots for IT;

am curious if others see 149034 image count under my moniker?
then when clicking on it seeing 148716 for my online collection count?

Mine 46035/46051

go to your AIM & you might see those ?16? online-invisible images "on sale"

if willing, do you Excel merge?
I am thinking somebody in AIM dept. missed a step week ago or more....
there could be huge accumulation of "on sale" online-invisible images...

I'll talk to you Jeff. Well, I put 60ish images on sale yesterday. Forum has updated and I've just searched through the main website and found them on sale too. Sorry. Maybe you have so many photos that you broke Alamy... 🤔

StevieF, best friend of all friends on The Internet,

I'm guessing you don't use same Excel doc merging scheme I use...?
That's where issue lies, IMO;
someone in IM threw the wrong lever or forgot to throw the right lever...
those who want to bash Excel merge vs. AIM tools, go ahead;
but at least this ain't happened before...

I'm wondering whether the forum counter can 'see' live news. Now that my last set of news images have gone into stock the forum figure is showing 46215 which seems pretty close to what I'd expect my portfolio to reach once the database updates. It's currently on 46171. We shall see.

Database has updated and it's showing 46226, so I'm missing 11 images. The hunt begins.....

My immediate search has found a batch of live news images where the information I've saved in AIM has not saved to the thumbnail, but shows when zoomed. I'll try reworking and saving those and see what occurs with tomorrow's database update.

this

149,034 forum count (didn't go up, should've)

correction: now forum count up to 149,206...which AFAICT is my true total count

148,888 online count (went up, not enough)

& online search for missing count subject = 0 returns...
currently (318) images zombied...

PAlamy has technical flaw.
it is possible for images "on sale" in AIM
to NOT be live online...
over the years, how many images have
fallen into this trap, never to be noticed again
if contrib doesn't search EVERY submitted image...?

The database has fully updated early today after running two days late. Earlier on this morning it had caught up by one day, and then within the last hour or so has fully updated.

As it stands my forum count is 46612, my portfolio count 46606. I have six live news images which have today gone into stock, but would seem to indicate that there is a count issue delay associated with such images. The images are for sale so would seem to just indicate a count glitch.

now have opposite issue
forum count isn't updating to
reflect increased online count;
tried rebooting, nope...

but clicking on that number gets

Stock Photos and Images

(149,367)
any quick fix...?
not as significant as zombied images
but don't like things messy jessie...
😬___ 😬___ 😬

PS. GAWBLIMEY, POSTING THIS MESSAGE UPDATED FORUM COUNT !!
