Crop identification

Question

I came across this agricultural field turned golden in October. Does anybody know what type of cereal or grass is planted in this field?

I can't tell from that image but if you've got a closer shot (or can link to a higher res image)of the plants themselves it would be helpful. Best guess from that image on a phone screen would be oats but October seems a bit late (in the UK at least) :)

Yep. You don't make it easy for sure. Will have to see the structure of the ears. However, I seem to notice a hanging in them. If so, would probably be oat. I thought Canadians would be experts in crops 😀

Yes, but I hope you didn't judge from the large image - only the smaller where I find it difficult to see - the large one is mine 😀
