CrowingHen
I took your advise and shot some people today (shot some photos of strangers). There is a strike just starting and it's effecting lots of families so I think I have two photos that are news-worthy. But the news box is greyed out. When I read about it, I have to have experience shooting good news photos that are used before I can apply for that box to work. This makes sense. My question: can I still upload the news-worthy pictures to alamy but not click the news box? Am I right with this? Mark as editorial. Say number of people and that I do not have release. Because there is a bycicle and building and other stuff in the background that isn't mine, I would say "property" yes, no release. Keyword as if the news media is looking for the picture instead of a blog, book or magazine publisher. Is Alamy the right place to upload photos of current events? (again, sorry for the grammar/spelling not working. I am woefully dependent on my checker but the plugin isn't agreeing with this forum. Please ask if I wasn't clear.) MizBrown
If you have images you think have immediate new value, email Alamy (news@alamy.com ?) and describe what you just took (two hour window?) and see if they'll give you temporary access to news uploading. When you have some news sales, ask Alamy for permanent access.
CrowingHen
Thanks for the advise. When I looked closer, I only liked one photo enough to upload it. I need more practice.

I just sold an image last week that i thought was a failure, but because the subject was not well covered, i uploaded
hdh
You can also apply for the box to be available to you. On contributor dashboard under "Additional Revenue Options" select "Reportage/archival or Live News image upload service" and apply for live news. If you do not have a portfolio to link to but you can create a lightbox or put some newsworthy images you uploaded through the normal channels on your alamy portfolio page, suggest you add a separate gallery for this. then quote the respective link as your portfolio.
