  1. Best examples of tags and captions

Thanks for the info. It is and very much appreciated too! Kevin
  2. Best examples of tags and captions

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to really consider my examples and give such very good advice. My 2 examples were carefully chosen. The Bali image has sold twice this year albeit for small amounts, but that suggested to me that my caption and keywording were about right although anything can always be improved upon of course and your suggestions are both appropriate and welcome. The other image, I considered to be a reasonable photo and very much representative of the kind of photos that I take. I added it without really checking my caption and keywording (There seemed no point in asking for a critique on something I had already critiqued myself!). You bring up some very interesting points especially about the conceptual ideas the image generates. Conceptual keywording is one area that I think I am generally lacking. I am generally conscious of not over keywording but maybe sometimes I should err less on the side of caution. I take it, given your tiny portolio, that you are actually a G**** contributor. In nay case I am very grateful for your extremely valuable comments. Kevin

No idle boast Joseph. Your captions and keywords are indeed excellent
  4. Best examples of tags and captions

Thank you David this helps a lot. I have also looked at your portfolio to see your captions and keywords which also helps a lot. Kevin
  5. Best examples of tags and captions

Just took a quick look at your second image. I would definitely add the tag 'shopping' and include it in the caption. eg. "Two women shopping for fruit at an outdoor market in Bangkok Thailand". Other tags I would add include: Thai, markets, shopper, shoppers, fresh fruit, fruits, produce, busy, people, customers,. Thank you Maria I will incorporate your suggestions Kevin

Ok, here are 2 of my images for caption and tag critique
  7. Best examples of tags and captions

There has been a tremendous amount of discussion recently on tags and captions. Many people have subscribed to the idea of going back over their images to revisit them some with apparent success. A lot of us struggle with tags and captions so I was wondering is anyone was prepared to give examples of what they consider to be high quality tags and captions. Of course these do not have to be your images but can be from someone else.
  8. Images sold in April (Max. 1 per day)

Second sale of this image this year, alas both for peanuts
  9. Very disappointing

Yes I have been trying to do this as well in between uploading new images. Although I am not sure what more details I can add to captions, I am also conscious of not spamming the keywords. I do take the point mentioned by several people here that it takes time for images to percolate through the system. Perhaps I need to be a little more patient. I am starting to see sales but the main disappointment is in fact the value associated with those sales. Last year I had no sales in the first 3 months whereas this year I had 9 followed by 7 so far this month, Kevin

    $8.29 gross!
  11. Very disappointing

Trying to remain upbeat and posted the fact that I have reached 5000 images in the "good news" thread. However, so far this month I have had 7 sales for a nett total of $31.50. For the year to date I have 12 sales for $93.50 nett. Not something in either case to sing from the rooftops about. To say I am disappointed having worked so hard over the last 12 months in uploading photos is rather an understatement. Motivation is rapidly waning. Maybe I just do not take the right sort of photos. Kevin
  12. Post your positive results in 2018 here! :)

Just passed the 5000 images milestone.
  13. Having lived in Thailand for 13 years, I can definitely say that the dog eat dog mentality definitely exists. Some people in Thailand do work extremely hard for a pittance e.g. the rice farmers in North East Thailand, whereas others who are mega rich seem to soak up all opportunities for making yet more money which is why the gap between rich and poor is increasing. As an example the recent growth in Chinese tourism to Thailand has only benefited the wealthy who bus the Chinese to their restaurants and their emporiums. The local restaurants, shops and bars are hardly frequented by the Chinese and instead have to rely on dwindling Western tourists and expats. The other significant mindset of most Thais is that they live for today, They will take 100 baht today, rather than wait for 200 baht tomorrow. Of course, the government, which is currently a junta, is totally corrupt as all governments before them, as are all government agencies and they do very little to help the general populace striving instead to join the rich elite.
