Today I sold my first panoramic image. I was not even convinced that similar photos work but I gave a try by uploading a few of them.

Any clue where could have been published?

Shame it's such a great image to be sold in an IQ sale. Had to laugh at the terms or lack of any license at all. Any size and placement any use really, but only for a month, but after that its cheaper again.

It's ok the photog doesn't mind he only spent a few days putting it together.

We all get those days,  when i see some of my sales it is more like  " frustration day for me ".

Enjoy the fact that somebody liked your image well enough to publish it, forget the conditions and what ever you may have been payed for it.

Nice shot by the way!

Cheers,

Paul.

Assuming this is a stitched image (as opposed to one captured with a dedicated panoramic camera) they really can take a great deal of work, especially if they feature motion (rippling water, waves, boat wakes and so on.)  This is very much a specialist's game, requiring specialised equipment and software at the high end.  I've been led to believe there's an active, rewarding market for prints - Peter Lik seems to be thriving.

I'm rather curious about how many panoramas Alamy licenses annually, and how they are used; does anyone have any insights they can share?

Regards

Lionel

Thanks you all for nice comments about the photo.

Unfortunately, the sale was not as widely panoramic as the image but at least I sold something different from standard pictures  :)
