Matt Ashmore
If the news team disagree with a contributor as to whether images uploaded as 'news' are indeed news or not, the images seem to automatically be getting pushed to QC as normal stock. News images by their nature come with the caveat that they might not be technically perfect. Particularly if an image is uploaded quickly from the field, then it is unlikely that the photographer has checked for a whole number of possible failure reasons. This risks the contributor suffering a QC failure for an image that was never meant to go to QC. It would be far better if instead of the news team diverting images to normal stock QC, that the images are simply deleted. If the contributor wants them to be considered as stock images then he/she can simply upload them again.
