Link to individual image on Alamy

Recommended Posts

I often post details of my stock sales on my website - my business is more about teaching and mentoring photographers these days - so sharing my sales is helpful to the photographers I am working with.  When I do post a sale, I like to link back to the actual image here on Alamy.

Eg http://www.alamy.com/image-details-popup.asp?Imageid={C3C3A17C-D0FF-4D50-B204-DC961539345B}

I am trying to semi-automate the process, based on the downloadable data from the "downloadable sales report" - the sales report only gives my image id (eg EW0503E-D01551) or the short code Alamy id (eg AXFA0F).

Many years ago there used to be a way to link to the image page using the short code id  - it was something like:

http://www.alamy.com/viewimage.asp?id=AXFA0F

I can't remember what that link format used to be, nor do I know if it still works.  Does anyone know?

If it isn't an option anymore - does anyone have any idea how to download to Excel sales info (or even for all images) data that includes the big ID in curly brackets?  (ie {C3C3A17C-D0FF-4D50-B204-DC961539345B} ).

This should work.  http://www.alamy.com/search/imageresults.aspx?qt=your image id here

Thanks for the reply, It's a possible solution, but I'd rather the link went direct to the image page, rather than to a search results page.

I'd rather anyone clicking on the link arrived here:

http://www.alamy.com/image-details-popup.asp?Imageid=%7BC3C3A17C-D0FF-4D50-B204-DC961539345B%7D

Rather than here:

http://www.alamy.com/search/imageresults.aspx?qt=AXFA0F

As I said - it used to be possible.  I am not sure if I can't remember the syntax correctly or the page that made it possible has long since gone.

The names of the zoom pages have changed since then. If you look closely at your keywords and at the link you want to construct, you would be able to do it.

I would not bother to automate it. Just click on the thumbnail you are able to generate and then cut/paste the link of the zoom page by hand.

Another route would be drag and drop.

Hi Wim,

I think I have a solution, using the LRAlamy plugin to export the some of the information.  Then downloading the sales export report from Alamy, then finally using Excel to perform a lookup between the two!  A bit complex but I've got 600-700 of sales to do.  I'm launching a membership site, and for paying members I am going to let them know what I earned from the sales, so I need to re-post all the past sales to add that extra info in there.  As you said it's not worth automating.... if it was one or two... but for 600+ yeah, I need to automate it!  ;-)

Thanks

Ian.

I got this string when I hit the download button and it asked for my password and I closed that box out without entering my password.  It seems to work fine, its reasonably short and takes you to the image page.  http://www.alamy.com/mediacomp/imagedetails.aspx?ref=

Thank you - that appears to be what I am looking for.

Lightboxes are good for that too.

I keep one for zooms and sales for each year and one for the total sales and one for my total zooms. It doesn't give you totals per image like clicking on sales or zooms in one's Pseudonym History, but it does allow me to keep and compare my sales and zooms over time. And it makes it easy to cull images that have never been zoomed or sold.

(I know I can save the html page with sales and zooms and I do that too. On December 31!)

Insufficient number of arguments

Obviously they hadn't been on the old forum! ;)  :)
