M.Chapman
Microsoft has started rolling out the Anniversary update to Windows 10. But Home version users may have to work harder to stop it. One trick is to change your settings to indicate you're on a metered internet Wi-Fi connection. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/how-disable-automatic-updates-in-windows-10-3632159/ It might be worth deferring this update until the dust settles and a few patches have been released? By coincidence, I had to temporarily set up 2 of my old PCs with Windows 10. So I downloaded the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition ISO and did in clean install from USB. I have to say that the install went more smoothly than any Windows installation I've done before, and significantly better than the original Windows 10 installs I did on these same PCs soon after Windows 10 came out. I still had some problems (Screen driver was incorrect on one, and the trackpad driver was incorrect on the other). But other than that, I've never done a clean install of MS Windows on these PCs before where Device Manager showed no unrecognised hardware at all. In some areas Windows 10 has made significant improvements.
John Walker
I have updates on hold as suggested. Is the Anniversary update obvious in the list of updates. I can't see anything on my update list yet that suggests it's the Anniversary one. What about this one? Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3176493). Or could it have happened in the background before I stopped auto updates - how can I tell?
yokochanie
We have two main computers and a laptop. We upgraded all three and that was three days ago, no problems at all. It did take about an hour to complete.
Brian Yarvin
I too had no problems with the anniversary update although it did take more than two hours.
John Walker
I suppose the question I'm asking is how do I know if my system has updated? I'm on Win 10 Pro. I've just checked and it reports that I'm fully updated but I can't see any changes that I'm aware of. Other than that, I not had any notifications. Confused

Confused You can view your update history - Open Settings... click on Update and Security... Windows Update... Advanced Options... View your update history. The installed updates will be listed there. I'm not sure what the anniversary update will show as - mine hasn't done it yet. There have been some minor updates in the last few days - quite a few on the 10th and one today for AMD Radion video card drivers. That probably explains why all my icons had moved over to the left monitor this morning..! OK after a reboot.

Confused If I look at Settings > About screen (scroll down to find the About option) it shows Windows 10 Version 1607 which is the Anniversary update edition. I currently have build 14393.0, but believe there's now a slightly newer build available 14393.51. Note: I did a clean install. I'm not sure what happens to the version and build numbers on this screen if you had an "in place" upgrade .
